New Homes Program

  • Designed for Co-op members building new homes to achieve energy efficiency from the ground up.
  • Ensure your building plans incorporate Appalachian Electric Cooperative (AEC) solutions to maximize construction budget and energy savings.

Electric Service Benefits

  • All-electric homes with electric heat pumps, water heaters, ranges, and dryers may have the URD secondary aid-to-construction fee waived, saving up to $655.
  • You may qualify for the elimination of the $50 service connection fee.

Insulation Requirements

  • Attic insulation must meet a minimum of R-38.
  • Wall insulation must meet a minimum of R-13.

Quality Inspection Service

  • AEC’s certified energy inspector offers expert guidance on program guidelines and installation, helping you save money and ensuring satisfaction.

Cash Incentives

  • Numerous incentives are available through the New Homes Program.
  • Property owners and contractors may receive up to $1,300 or more in incentives for building homes to AEC and local building code standards.
  • Schedule an inspection with AEC’s Energy Inspector, Ken Coffey, at (865) 719-8322, before drywall installation, to ensure your home meets the required standards.

TVA Preferred Air Source Heat Pump defined as a minimum 15.3 SEER2 and 8.1 HSPF2 all-electric heat pump with a variable speed compressor, excluding two-stage compressors, system produces 100% of rated heating capacity without backup heat at 17 degrees F, cooling capacity cannot exceed 125% of cooling load at design conditions, and is installed by a manufacturer certified installer.

QCN must provide Manual J 8th edition with project submission.
