Guidelines for Electric Permits, Inspections and Service Releases

Your Responsibilities:

1. For jobs that require the state permitting process, state issued electrical permits must be valid and presented prior to any electric connection. It is the consumer’s responsibility (or their electrician) to purchase and provide this document.

2. State inspection by the Deputy State Electrical Inspector must be completed and passed for required jobs, prior to electric service connection. It is the consumer’s responsibility to schedule the inspection of their service location.

3. Consumers must apply for service releases through the State of Tennessee. These service releases are only good for 45 days. It is the consumer’s responsibility to be aware of the expiration dates of any service release and (if needed) to re-apply for an additional service release from the State of Tennessee.

4. For Temporary Electric Service after a disconnection / reconnection of service, consumers must complete and sign the Application for Temporary Service and Release and Indemnification Agreement with AEC field personnel and must schedule and complete the final inspection with the Deputy State Electrical Inspector within seven (7) calendar days from the date of the signing of the Application for Temporary Service and Release and Indemnification Agreement. The completion and signing of the Temporary Service Application is the responsibility of the consumer (or electrician). Electrical Services past the seven (7) calendar day inspection process may be subject to disconnection without notice to the Consumer.  Permits, Inspections, Service Releases and other state required documents are the responsibility of the consumer applying for electric service.

Consumer and/or wiring contractors submitting Applications for Temporary Service hereby and shall release and discharge Appalachian Electric Cooperative and its employees, agents, contractors, officials, subcontractors and members of and from any and all liabilities, claims, causes of action and obligations of every kind and character including, but not limited to claims for death, bodily injuries, personal injuries, and property damage which may occur, arise, or result from the wiring of the Premises, or the refusal or failure to inspect or monitor any wiring at or upon the Premises, and Signee(s) hereby agree(s) to indemnify and hold Appalachian Electric Cooperative and all of AEC’s employees, agents, officials, contractors, or subcontractors harmless of and from any and all damages of any kind or character, including, but not limited to death, bodily injuries, personal injuries, and property damage.
