Important Notice Regarding Rates
This notice is to inform you of an upcoming adjustment to your residential electric rates. Effective October 1, 2025, AEC electric rates will increase by a total of 3%. This will be reflected in a $3 increase in the base charge (going from $27.46 to $30.46 and a slight increase in the kWh charge of $0.00155. The average impact on an AEC member is approximately $4 per month.
The adjustment to electric rates will be implemented to support essential infrastructure improvements. This adjustment relates to the ongoing commitment to enhance the reliability, safety, and resilience of the electric grid infrastructure. Infrastructure, such as transmission lines and substations, requires continuous investment to meet increasing energy demands and integrate new technologies. Today’s economic reality shows a continued pricing increase in materials and equipment within the energy field.
The funds from this rate increase will be dedicated to:
- Replacing and upgrading aging equipment to prevent outages and improve system stability.
- Investing in smart grid technologies for better monitoring and management of the grid. This leads to quicker response times in case of outages and improved efficiency.
- Enhancing grid resilience against severe weather events by strengthening infrastructure to better protect against the impacts of storms and minimize disruptions to service.
These investments are vital to ensure reliable and efficient electric service, now and in the future.
Thank you for your understanding and support as the community works to build a stronger and more reliable electric grid.
