AEC Election Procedure Information
Members of AEC will elect three (3) directors for board seats, representing districts 1, 2 & 5 during the voting period prior to the 81st Annual Meeting of the Membership, on September 25, 2021.
Qualifications of a candidate for director include: must be an individual at least 18 years of age, who is a cooperative member in good standing. The candidate must reside in the AEC district for which he or she is a candidate and must not be convicted of any felony or any Class A or B misdemeanor. A complete listing of qualifications and more information on the election process is available in the AEC bylaws.
Nominations for these open seats will be offered by the AEC nominating committee and will also be accepted from the general membership between May 28 – July 12, 2021. Any 15 or more members of the cooperative, acting together, may make nominations in writing, by petition, over their signatures. The AEC Nominating Committee will post a full list of nominations by July 27, 2021
Board seats representing districts 1, 2 and 5 are open for election in 2021. Voting will take place by official mail-in ballot from each member located in the districts which have open board seats, during the voting period August 27, 2021 and September 23, 2021. Announcement of the election results will be presented by the AEC Attorney at the 81th Annual Meeting of the Membership on September 25, 2021. Terms of service for each elected board director will be three (3) years.
